DAUGHTER OF THE SIREN QUEEN by Tricia Levenseller / Blog Tour: Character Interview #DOTSQ

Welcome to the next stop for the DAUGHTER OF THE SIREN QUEEN blog tour, hosted by Fierce Reads. I'm so thrilled to share my interview with Alosa, the main character of this must read duology. If you haven't yet picked up Tricia Levenseller's Daughter of the Pirate King, do so now! You've got time to read it before Daughter of the Siren Queen comes out (which will be released on Tuesday 2/27/18). You can read my spoiler free review for it here

CHARACTER INTERVIEW WITH ALOSA

* Hi Alosa. How would you describe this book, in 5 words or less?

More sirens and shirtless Riden

* A lot has happened between the first book and now. You've been through a lot and have had to deal with quite a few surprising things. What would you say is one thing you've learned the most about yourself throughout your journey so far?

I’m not meant for the stage, that’s for sure. Pretending to be a captive didn’t go over so well. Riden saw right through it, despite my best efforts. I simply can’t handle NOT being the one to give out orders.

* What's one thing you think readers would be surprised to learn about you?

I hate horses. They’re foul-smelling beasts and the worst sort of transportation.

* When it comes to Riden, what's one of your favorite qualities about him, or you know, enduring ones (haha)?

Aside from the obvious physical ones? Perhaps his bravery. He took two bullets for me, and then he trusted me to use my abilities to save us both. I was pleasantly surprised by what we could do when working together rather than against one another.

* What's something you think readers will be surprised about with Vordan?

He is not the main villain in the second book. I thwart him rather easily before moving on to bigger and greater things.

* If you could go back and change anything in the course of the two books, would you?

Honestly, I could have done without seeing so much of Draxen, if you know what I mean. I wish I could go back and tell myself not to bother with searching him for the map.

* What can readers except from you in Daughter of the Siren Queen?

I’m going to be learning more about my siren half. The siren in me is dangerous and terrifying, but she also just might prove useful.

* What would your author say was one of her favorite moments to write?

Likely the final battle at the end of the second book between me and a certain character who I cannot reveal (spoilers, you see). That scene was full of emotion and had so many things going on in the background. Tricia is rather proud of the swashbuckling choreography as well as all the different elements that come into play.

* Thank you Alosa for stopping by Mundie Moms today. I can see why one of Tricia's favorite scenes was the final battle. That was a great scene. There's definitely plenty of swashbuckling choreography, action, and plenty of other elements that make this book a must read!

And she takes great comfort in knowing that the villainous Vordan will soon be facing her father's justice.
When Vordan exposes a secret her father has kept for years, Alosa and her crew find themselves in a deadly race with the feared Pirate King. Despite the danger, Alosa knows they will recover the treasure first . . . after all, she is the daughter of the Siren Queen.

A 17-year-old pirate captain intentionally allows herself to get captured by enemy pirates in this thrilling young adult tale.
There will be plenty of time for me to beat him soundly once I've gotten what I came for.
Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.
In Daughter of the Pirate King, debut author Tricia Levenseller blends action, adventure, romance, and a little bit of magic into a gripping tale on the high seas.
