Orphan Black meets Lord of the Flies in this riveting new thriller from the co-author of the Virals series.

It’s been happening since Min was eight. Every two years, on her birthday, a strange man finds her and murders her in cold blood. But hours later, she wakes up in a clearing just outside her tiny Idaho hometown—alone, unhurt, and with all evidence of the horrifying crime erased.

Across the valley, Noah just wants to be like everyone else. But he’s not. Nightmares of murder and death plague him, though he does his best to hide the signs. But when the world around him begins to spiral toward panic and destruction, Noah discovers that people have been lying to him his whole life. Everything changes in an eye blink.

For the planet has a bigger problem. The Anvil, an enormous asteroid threatening all life on Earth, leaves little room for two troubled teens. Yet on her sixteenth birthday, as she cowers in her bedroom, hoping not to die for the fifth time, Min has had enough. She vows to discover what is happening in Fire Lake and uncovers a lifetime of lies: a vast conspiracy involving the sixty-four students of her sophomore class, one that may be even more sinister than the murders.

A suspenseful, thrilling read from beginning to end. NEMESIS is action packed, full of twists, and turns you won't see coming. An addictive read I couldn't put down, this book was not what I was excepting. I can't wait to read the sequel.

Min can't seem to catch a break. Each year on her birthday, she has to relive the same horrifying experience. Her own death. Only each year she's killed differently, only to wake up later in the middle of the woods. Each time she's killed by the same mysterious man. What's worst, no one believes her. That is until she meets Noah.

Noah and Min not only share the same birthday, they both have one more thing in common. Noah and Min both get killed on their birthdays. Min each year, and Noah over other year. Both run in two different circles of friends, but once these two cross paths, and start to uncover more of the secrets surrounding themselves, there's no going back to how things used to be.

Min and Noah couldn't be more different, yet there's something about both of them I liked from the get go. I absolutely love Min's best friend Tack. Tack plays a big role in Min's life, as well as helping uncover what's going on. The more they dig into the mystery, the more questions they have. Getting to bottom of this craziness is just the beginning for these three.

The character banter in this book is great. I love a book with good character banter. It was interesting watching the character interactions through out the entire story, and see how they all work together to solve the mystery. It was definitely easy to like some characters more than others, yet, I felt like each of the characters definitely had a purpose in this story, whether good or bad. I liked getting to see their individual progressions as the story continued. I'm curious to see what happens with each of them in the sequel.

The setting and the atmosphere of this story were great. Both really set the mood for the story perfectly. Fire Lake definitely felt more like a character than just a setting. I love it when that happens. It felt like it definitely had it's own personality to add to the story. One of my favorite parts of the story is the setting itself.

The writing was definitely engaging. I really liked that this story is told from two different points of views. Having the story told from both Min and Noah's povs added a lot more to the story. It definitely allows for readers to not only get to know Min and Noah more, but we also get a better look into their worlds, and all that's going on. I don't think this story would have worked had it been written any other way.

The plot was awesome! Sure, there are some slower moments to the story, but over all this story kept me hooked with all the twists and turns. There's so much to it, and I still NEED ANSWERS! Through out the entire story, just as I think I have it all figured out it takes another turn that not only leaves me trying to figure out how I didn't see that new revelation coming, but also predict what will happen next. Trust me, there's no predicting this story's outcome.

While some questions are answered, in the end I'm left wondering how I couldn't figure it out, and now I have more questions that need to be answered. I look forward to reading this sequel! This is one YA thriller worth picking up. It definitely makes a for a good Halloween read. Be sure to check out my interview with Brendan about Nemsis here.
