In the fast-paced, high-stakes conclusion to Caragh M. O'Brien's Vault of Dreamers trilogy, Rosie travels to a derelict theme park to shut down dream mining once and for all. Driven by fear when Dean Berg kidnaps her family, Rosie Sinclair strikes out across the country to rescue them. When an elusive trail leads her to Grisly Valley, the contaminated ruin of a horror theme park, Rosie has to consider that Berg may once again be manipulating her every move to make her fearful, priming her for a final, lethal dream mining procedure. As Rosie struggles to outmaneuver Berg, she unearths the ultimate vault of dreamers and the hint of a consciousness more powerful and dangerous than any she's imagined before. Faced with unspeakable suffering and otherworldly beauty, Rosie must discover how to trust her mind, her friends, and reality itself. Propulsive and deeply speculative, The Keep of Ages concludes the Vault of Dreamers trilogy with stirring possibilities for what it means to be alive.

The Rebel Writer's Writing Tips

1. Resist lists of writing tips.
They only stress you with their deceptive implication that all the really important things about writing can be covered in a spiffy list of tips.

2. Go write your novel instead of reading further.
Sadly, you already know this is what you ought to be doing, but you crave the seductive combination of procrastination and a longing for advice that might actually prove useful. All rebel writers have this craving, I’m afraid. We desperately want to feel understood as only fellow writers can understand us, and we seek this affirmation in lists of tips that usually leave us feeling inadequate.

3. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Apparently, you haven’t been able to abandon these tips so far. No worries. This probably means you’re working on an early draft. Chances are it’s rotten. It has no pacing, the dialogue goes nowhere, and the characters are boring clichés. You want to delete every wretched word, and yet deleting it all would be admitting failure. You’re addicted to this thing. It’s a sublime sort of misery, and so you’ll fight on, rebel writer that you are.

4. This tip has something to do with revising.

5. Save the spelling for last.
We all know spelling is important.  Countless readers will leap with glee to point out the smallest flaw in your novel because, by golly, spelling matters and that there’s a mistake. What’s harder to do is write something with an original story, and characters who move and challenge us. Do that first. Lavish your time and agony on what really matters. Transport and transcend yourself by writing the weirdest, most imaginative, most incredible novel you can. The trying alone is an immeasurable gift to yourself, so don’t let anyone take it away. Write like a rebel.
