From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Witches of East End and The Descendants comes the love story of young Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Schuyler.

1777. Albany, New York.

As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.

Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.

In the pages of Alex and Eliza, #1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz brings to life the romance of young Alexander Hamilton and Elizabeth Schuyler.

An epic romance, unforgettable characters, and vividly detailed historical that makes you feel like you stepped back into the 1700's. Melissa de la Cruz gave me everything I love in historical YA romances. I absolutely loved the way she wrote Alex and Eliza. Theirs is an epic romance that spans a number of years, and sees much change both in the characters, and all that our country went through at this time. I absolutely love the banter between the two of them, and watching them fall in love.

I was hooked from the moment Alex & Eliza first met, and didn't stop rooting for them until the very end. From their first meeting at the ball, to the years of courtship, there's something about the way Alex and Eliza is written that makes them effortlessly come to life. They literally feel larger than the pages their story is written on. These two were definitely meant to be.

This is a book that feels like I literally stopped back into the 1700's. I can't even imagine the amount of research that Melissa put into this book. I absolutely loved it. I love the way this book is written. It's full of vivid, detailed imagery. Not to mention three dimensional characters you can't help but love getting to know. From Alex and Eliza, to Eliza's sisters, to George Washington himself.

Aside from the sweeping, epic romance, I loved the presence of strong, independent women. From Eliza, to her Aunt (whom I absolutely loved), to her mom, and sisters. While things were different for women in this period of time, I greatly admire the strength that Eliza has and shows.

Alex and Eliza are a match the just makes sense. Their story in this book is one I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven't seen or read the Hamilton play to know how much of this story correlates with that one, if at all. This book is it's own story, and one I loved reading. Melissa de la Cruz swept me away with this story, it's characters I loved reading about, her historical accuracies, and the epic romance between Alex and Eliza.
