MAGNUS and CLEO are forced to test the strength of their love when Gaius returns to Mytica claiming he's no longer the King of Blood but a changed man seeking redemption.

LUCIA, pregnant with the child of a Watcher, has escaped the clutches of the unhinged fire god. Her powers are dwindling as she goes forth to fulfill a prophecy that will keep her baby safe . . . but could mean her demise.

JONAS treks back to Mytica with a plan to overtake Amara, but fate takes hold when he runs into the beautiful Princess Lucia and joins her on her perilous journey.

AMARA has taken the Mytican throne, but with no way to unleash the water magic trapped within her stolen crystal, she'll never be able to seize glory and get sweet revenge.

And what kind of darkness will descend--and who will be safe--after Prince Ashur reveals the dangerous price he paid to cheat death?

Picking up right where Frozen Tides ends, Rhodes waste no time throwing her readers right back into the thick of things with Crystal Storm. Nothing is as it seems in this book. Including a few characters whom I thought were dead. Oh yes, the plot thickens with this book and it's awesome! It's unpredictable, fast paced, and one that will leaving you wish it was a few hundred pages longer. It's full of betrayal, shocking alliances, plenty of danger, action, romance, plenty of snark and magic. This book is all I had hoped it would be and then some!

I love the characters in this series! The good, the bad, and all the ones in between. I've loved getting to see each one continue with their journeys, and seeing how much the characters have changed since I first met them. I love Rhodes is writing. Not only is it hard to master the art of multiple points of views, there is a vast cast of characters who all serve a purpose in the story. With each pov, it not only flawlessly continues the over all story, we also get to know each character more. There is a lot of twists and turns with these characters.

Magnus and Cleo were my absolute favorites in this book. Okay really it was Magnus, but I love the scenes these two share together. There is no shortage of snarky comments, sexual tension, and swoon worthy moments between them. Not only do these two dish out the snark, especially Magus, there are a few scenes between these two that I just loved! One of them is such a tender moment, that has to do with something so sweet that Magnus does for Cleo. I know, I never thought sweet and Magnus would be used in a sentence. Trust me, that scene had me swooning more than the awesome kissy scenes... Those were awesome too!

Rhodes throws in some surprising twists, and a few shocking betrayals. Not to mention the temporary truces that take place. There are so many shocking plot twists in this story. I won't give anything away, but I will say I didn't see some of these things happening. Some things I fell for, even against my better judgement, because of how deceptive the characters are. They are so well written. I'm still shocked at the turn of events that I didn't see coming. These twists are just so good! Just when I think I have Rhodes's writing and her characters figured out, she throws me for a loop and makes me question everything I know about her characters.

Crystal Storm was everything I had hoped it would be and more. Except that horrible cliff hanger that makes me wish I had the next book in my hands! My word that was brutal. I'm pretty sure Rhodes is evil laughing at my fears. This is my new favorite book in the Falling Kingdom series. I'm pretty sure I say that with each new addition to the series. Rhodes has done an awesome job with the direction of this storyline. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
