In modern-day London, two brilliant high school students—one Sherlock Holmes and a Miss James “Mori” Moriarty—meet. A murder will bring them together. The truth very well might drive them apart.

Before they were mortal enemies, they were much more…

FACT: Someone has been murdered in London’s Regent’s Park. The police have no leads.

FACT: Miss James “Mori” Moriarty and Sherlock “Lock” Holmes should be hitting the books on a school night. Instead, they are out crashing a crime scene.

FACT: Lock has challenged Mori to solve the case before he does. Challenge accepted.

FACT: Despite agreeing to Lock’s one rule—they must share every clue with each other—Mori is keeping secrets.

OBSERVATION: Sometimes you can’t trust the people closest to you with matters of the heart. And after this case, Mori may never trust Lock again.

modern day Sherlock Holmes with a shocking twist. Heather Petty's debut is a must read book. I loved this book. It's fantastic and one I couldn't put down. I loved the twists, the snark, the chemistry, and oh those twists. I did not see that big one coming, although I had a few guesses about what was to come.

Heather Petty has made her mark among other fabulous debut authors who's books have been added to my all time favorites book shelves. She created characters that I immediately loved. There's snark, tension, and an undeniable chemistry between Lock and Mori. I even loved those infuriating moments between the two of them. Oh, it's that good. If you're a Sherlock Holmes fan, you know what I'm talking about.

One of the things I loved is how Heather was able to give her Sherlock Holmes story a own unique modern day spin, while keeping that quirkiness that all Sherlock stories have. It's brilliant. Lock and Mori is a Sherlock Holmes story for a whole new generation of fans. I think fans of all ages will enjoy this one. Knowing the history between the classic Sherlock, and Moriarty, I loved what Heather did with the end of this book. I have a feeling Heather Petty will be toying with her readers emotions (cue the evil author laugh, that all authors have).

The only thing I don't like about this book, is the fact I have to wait so long for book two. Yes, I'm very impatient when it comes to waiting on books. I am looking forward to seeing what Heather does with Lock and Mori's story in book two. This is one book I'd definitely recommend picking up. The nice thing about this book is, you don't need to be a Sherlock Holmes fans to like it. I'll warn you, you just may become a fan of Lock & Mori after you read Heather Petty's debut.

Check out my fangirl letter I wrote to Heather Petty about her debut book, and originally posted it here

Dear Heather W. Petty,
Please forgive me for a moment while I fangirl over your debut book, LOCK & MORI! This book is AWESOME! I absolutely loved it. It's a fabulous modern day Sherlock Holmes story, with a brilliant twist. I'll be honest, I may have liked this book back before it was a book, when our dear mutual friend, Sophie, raved, and raved about this book, back when you were still writing it. I can't tell you how thrilled I was to finally read the book for myself. It surpassed everything I had excepted.
Your characters are bloody brilliant! No pun intended. haha. I absolutely loved their character chemistry. It's the kind of chemistry that makes it hard to not rush through reading the book to see when they'll make out *coughs*, I mean admit their feelings for each other. I loved Lock and Mori for their strengths and weakness, but most importantly for what they offer each other. They're flawed characters who had me from the moment Mori walked into Lock's lab at the beginning of the book. What I love about Lock and Mori, is similar to what I love about some of my all time favorite characters, Will and Tess, and Jace & Clary.
The setting for your book is perfect, as is the twist you threw into your story. Yeah, I didn't see that one coming, though I had some suspicions about the person, whom I won't name. That was fabulous! I love that you not only stayed true to that Sherlock Holmes storytelling feel, but you created a story that is fantastic and it's own thing. I think that those whom are Sherlock fans will enjoy this, as will fans who aren't Sherlock Holmes fans. I love the YA spin on this story. It's believable, realistic, and seriously FABULOUS!
Your book is addicting! I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately, and your book is just the book I've needed. Lately I've been starting and not finishing books, but Lock and Mori is a book I flew through. Once I started reading it, I didn't stop until I finished it. I loved everything about your book! From the writing, to the character development, the chemistry, and all the in between. The only problem I have is, is that now I have to wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
Thank you for writing this book, and getting me out of book slump. Your book now has a new home among my coveted all time favorites bookcases. Lock & Mori gets 5 shiny stars from me! I'm looking forward to sharing my full review next month.I'll be recommending your book everyone! Please don't stop writing!
Signed,
A huge fan of your book who can't wait to read the next book in your series
