When seventeen-year-old Lilliana Young enters the Metropolitan Museum of Art one morning during spring break, the last thing she expects to find is a live Egyptian prince with godlike powers, who has been reawakened after a thousand years of mummification.

And she really can't imagine being chosen to aid him in an epic quest that will lead them across the globe to find his brothers and complete a grand ceremony that will save mankind.

But fate has taken hold of Lily, and she, along with her sun prince, Amon, must travel to the Valley of the Kings, raise his brothers, and stop an evil, shape-shifting god named Seth from taking over the world.

From New York Times bestselling author Colleen Houck comes an epic adventure about two star-crossed teens who must battle mythical forces and ancient curses on a journey with more twists and turns than the Nile itself.

I am a huge fan of Colleen's writing. I love her mythology, story telling, romance, and everything else she includes into her unforgettable stories. This is a book both fans of Colleen's and those who are new tor reading her books, will love. My review for REAWAKENED will be posted shortly.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Hello Colleen! Welcome to Mundie Moms. Congratulations on your newest release. How would you describe Reawakened in 5 words or less?

A whirlwind of exciting adventure!

* If you were a character in your book, whom would your teen self most likely be friends with?

Ooo hard to say. Lily is the only "normal" person in the book. I think I'd actually get along best with Ahmose.

* I love the Egyptian lore/history you have in Reawakened. Is this something that has always intrigued you?

Yes! I've always been fascinated with anything having to do with Egypt and mummies. I loved delving into the discoveries made in the Valley of the Kings. Then there are the mummy movies. There's a certain romance with old school Dracula films that is echoed in mummy movies.  There's just so much we don't know and new things are being discovered every day. Because of that, any story about the pyramids or ancient Egyptian mythology lends itself to fiction well.

* During the course of your writing of Reawakened or your research of Egyptian history, was there anything that you discovered that you were most fascinated by?

The mythology of Egypt was just as difficult for me as Indian mythology. I had to try to make sense of the whole way the universe worked and try to connect all the pieces into one big story. I think the idea that was most interesting to me was a theory I read that the pyramids were giant conductors and that the insides had melted metal from all the energy they channeled. Now I have no idea if that was fact or fiction, but I took the idea and ran with it.

* If I was to ask both Lilliana and Amon, what their first impressions of each other were, what would they say?

Well from the book we know that Lily thought Amon was a homeless guy at first and then a spray tan model who had fried his brain. Eventually she settled on mentally disturbed terminal patient who escaped the hospital. Amon likely made a lot of assumptions about Lily. He probably believed that she was a devotee come to worship him and was confused when she didn't. He probably wondered about her clothes and hair and makeup and might have thought she was pretty but he was too focused on what he had to do at the time to give her much more thought than that.

* I love how you combine mythology and ancient history in your stories. What element in Reawakened was the most fun for you to write?

Definitely the pyramid scene at the end. I hate writing battle scenes but this one was smooth and easy for me since Lily was more of an observer than a fighter. I loved being able to envision an entire scene set at the pyramids. There was a lot of tension in those last few chapters and those are always the most fun to write.

* I've got to ask a fun question. If you could have a super power, what would it be?

I think a really valuable one would be to know exactly what people need and be able to offer it, whether it's money, a vacation, a hug, praise, or just a smile.
