The Princess in the Opal Mask by Jenny Lundquist, Blog Tour; Review & Giveaway

Welcome to the next stop in The Princess in the Opal Mask blog tour! Today I'm thrilled to be featuring Jenny's newest release on my blog. We had the privilege of revealing this gorgeous cover a couple months back.

About THE PRINCESS IN THE OPAL MASK

One Legend Determines the Fate of Two Lives

In the faraway village of Tulan, sixteen-year-old Elara has spent her entire life as a servant, trying to track down her real name. The name she was given before being orphaned. Meanwhile, in the kingdom of Galandria, Princess Wilhamina does not know why her father, the king, makes her wear a mask. Or why she is forbidden to ever show her face.

When a new peace treaty between Galandria and Kyrenica is threatened, Elara and Wilha are brought face to face. Told in alternating perspectives, this intricate fairytale pulls both girls toward secrets that have been locked away behind castle doors, while the fate of two opposing kingdoms rests squarely on their untrained shoulders.

 I love reads that I can indulge myself with over the course of the weekend. This is definitely one of those reads.  The Princess in the Opal Mask is a story rip with fantasy, adventure, and a little something more. It took me back to when I first really fell in love with reading, and reminded me a bit of reading those classics, back when we didn't have YA and MG books to choose from, you just had classics. Just like some of those beloved classics of my tween/YA days, Jenny threw in some great characters, and mixed in a bit of a coming of age story which made for an over all great read. I think YA fans of Jenny's MG book will enjoy this one. *My more detailed review will be posted soon.

@YALLFest Author Interview: Lisa McMann

It's about that time of year when fans start gearing up for one of the biggest book festivals in the nation, and the biggest in the south, YALL FEST (follow them on Twitter)! This year over 40 YA authors will  be there including Veronica Roth!

To prepare fans for the big event, we're among a group of bloggers who will be featuring authors and sharing author interviews. You can see some of the ones we've already posted here. Today we're featuring Lisa McMann!

What one thing do you need to have when you write?

Silence.
Best writing tip you ever received?
“Think of the one thing your main character would never, ever do. Now make her do it.”

What are you working on now?
We’ll be ramping up the releases of books 5, 6, and 7 in the Unwanteds series, so I’m working on Unwanteds book 5 right now.
What is your favorite genre to write in? To Read?
I really enjoy writing in a variety of genres, from realistic to paranormal to dystopian fantasy. At the moment, fantasy is winning, but that could change at any moment. My favorite genre to read is memoir.
At what point in the development of an idea do you know that it will become a full-length novel?
As soon as I have a one line concept that gives me a little shiver.
