The Mephisto Mark (A Mephisto Covenant Book #3) By Trinity Faegen; Blog Tour / Book Review (New Adult)

Hello & Welcome to today's The Mephisto Mark blog tour stop. I'm thrilled to be apart of this tour, as I have really enjoyed Trinity's series, and I'm so excited about the release of The Mephisto Mark.

About The Book

Orphaned at six and sent to live with abusive relatives in Bucharest, Mariah learned early in life to box up violent, agonizing memories and put them in permanent mental storage. Now almost nineteen, she has a paying job, a tiny apartment, and a plan to attend university. She loves her independence and is steadily overcoming her past, but when an enigmatic stranger walks into the pub where she works and the trajectory of her life changes yet again, she begins to wonder if she’ll run out of mental shelf space.

The only females unafraid of the Mephisto brothers are the extremely rare Anabo, born without Original Sin. Over one hundred years ago, Phoenix was first to find one, but he made a fatal mistake and she was murdered by his oldest brother and enemy, Eryx. Phoenix soldiered through the next century wrapped up in grief and guilt, his only outlet planning takedowns of those who pledged their souls to Eryx. When one of his brothers brings Mariah to Mephisto Mountain, he’s torn between his instinctive, powerful need to pursue her, and his certainty that he can never have her.

Drawn into the world of the Mephisto, Mariah sees the pain and misery Eryx unleashes on humanity, and the boxes in her mind begin to fly open, one by one. All that keeps her from slipping off the edge is her unlikely, sexually charged friendship with Phoenix. He’s incredibly screwed up; she’s completely broken. It would take a miracle for them to find happiness. Then Eryx brings the war for Hell to a whole new level, forcing Mariah and Phoenix to make a choice that will bind them together for all eternity, or rip them apart forever.

I am a huge fan of this series. I loved being back in the Mephisto world, and getting to know more about one of my favorite Mephisto Brother's, Phoenix. One of the great things about this book is if you've not already picked up the series, you can still pick up this book, and read it and understand enough about the world, the history, and enjoy all the swoon worthy moments that happen, without being confused. Trinity does a great job at giving the reader everything that is needed to not feel lost if you've not read this series before, and if you have, she does a fabulous job at recapping things. I will note, this particular story, unlike the others, is New Adult. The first books in the series, The Mephisto Covenant, and The Mephisto Kiss are Young Adult.

Trinity's writing is fabulous! Each story, and especially this one has a distinct voice, and I love that this story is told from both Mariah and Phoenix's point of views. The writing in this book is spot on, the storyline flows beautifully, and the pacing is perfect. Really this book is one that once I sat down to read it, there was no stopping until I was done. It's incredibly easy for me to get wrapped up in Trinity's series. The romance, the characters, the world building, the story arc, everything is crafted together perfectly, and I loved it. There's a little bit of everything. There's plenty of sizzling romance, there's heartbreak, action, love, friendship, danger, intrigue, and choices. Not to mention some incredible characters.

Trinity does such a brilliant job at making me feel for her characters. Her characters each of their brokenness, and yet through each story, one of the brothers finds his hope in the form of the girl that's meant for him. Before you get all huffy and puffy over the term "girl that's meant for him", you need to read the series, or in this case, even pick up this book, to understand the significance this term has with the Mephisto Brothers. I loved that even though there is a certain girl for each brother, well at least three of the brothers have found so far, the girls always have a choice. Becoming immortal, and knowing the risks, and the changes is a huge thing to take in, and even the brothers don't take it lightly. Before I tell you about the sizzling romance that always heats up the pages between the brothers and their girls, here's a little bit about the brothers are about.

The Mephisto brothers are also know as the Sons of Hell, aka the sons of Mephistopheles (which in German folklore is also known as the devil), and in this series you know him as M. Being the gate keeper of Hell, only he decides who enters it, and if the brothers, his sons, don't find their one true love and she doesn't fall in love with him, and he her, he can't redeem himself and enter Heaven, then they'll be living there with dear old dad. M is someone to definitely be fearful over, as are the brothers. I have to say M surprised me in this book, and I do like that even though the brothers fear the wrath of M, there are moments in this book we get to see this other, softer side of him. I have to admit, I loved it, just as I loved seeing this other side of Phoenix. The only thing worst that M, are the brother's oldest brother Eryx, who is the evil brother who will do everything he can to ruin his brother's for eternity. Hence the war continues, and time is of the crucial for each brother to find their Anabo (one true love)

Let's just say the brothers are not only these huge, alpha dog, drool worthy lead characters, they are the sons of Hell, and can be down right intimating. There are times where they also do things that show their softer, more vulnerable side, even though that is few and far between. And holy hotness batman, these guys know how to do things that are down right sizzling! They definitely meet their match with their Anabos. Phoenix has met is with Mariah, who also happens to be Jordan (his brother Keys's Anabo). Phoenix is the most like his father, he's got a temper, and feels he's destined to live a life of torment over what happened to Jane more than one hundred years ago. He's also the brother I've been most intrigued by. Then Mariah enters the picture, everything changes.

Talk about showing different side, Phoenix has a side with Mariah that about broke me. Mariah has experienced her own kind of hell, and I will say, this girl is amazing. Phoenix the only person who was meant to be there, and help her cope with all the abuse he has endured. I will say what Mariah dwelt with, will not be easy for all readers to read about. Trinity doesn't lightly dust off the fact that Mariah has dwelt with years of abuse and rape. She doesn't sugar coat it, and I appreciate the fact she makes sure to mention the effects it will always have on Mariah, as well as talks about how she'll come to terms with it, and with Phoenix's patience and help, she does. It's heartbreaking, and hopeful and beautiful in the terms of what Phoenix does to help her, and how they grow closer together.

I loved this book. It's got it all, and as I mentioned above, this is a New Adult book. Subject matter, and the things that happen behind the bedroom door are well written, but not suitable for all readers. If you're a fan of the series, or if you love new adult, I'd highly recommend picking this book up!

 About The Author

Author of the RITA winning Pink Files series, Stephanie Faegan has had a love affair with romance novels since she was eleven and discovered there are kissing scenes in Victoria Holt books. She spent a lot of time in her closet with a flashlight, reading as fast as possible to get to the end, only to start a new book and begin the whole Leave-Me-Alone-I’m-Reading cycle all over again. She still stays up until the wee hours to finish books, now courtesy of a lighted e-reader which she believes is mankind’s greatest invention ever.

Stephanie also writes Young Adult and New Adult paranormal romance as Trinity Faegen. A practicing CPA who loves travel, books, new pencils, old keys, and smart guys, she lives in the oilfields of west Texas with her engineer husband and a mean cat. She’d love to hear from you. She answers to Stephanie, Trinity, Hey Lady, and Mom, and can be reached at Stephanie@StephanieFeagan.com or Trinity@TrinityFaegen.com

She’s aware the similarity between her pseudonym, Faegen, and her real name, Feagan, confuses pretty much everyone, herself included. Since so many mispronounce Feagan as FEEgan instead of FAYgan, she thought she’d mix it up when she took a pseudonym and make it easier on people. Now people say FayEEgen, and spell it wrong. Next time she takes a pen name, she’s totally going with Smith or Jones.
