"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate.. -quoted from Goodreads

I honestly don't know where to even start, or what I can say about this book, because everything I want to mention is spoiler filled, and I can't mention spoilers. I loved everything about this book, especially the shocking ending. I would like to sum up my review by saying !@#$%^&*()_+)**^&&^%#!$@##$#%$^%&!$@$# which would translate to a whole slew of intangible sentences you guys would not be able to understand. I'll do my best to break it down into this: "SETH HOW COULD YOU!?", *insert major sighing* over some of the Aiden and Alex scenes, add some big *gasps* a dash of "no freaking way!" to the Leon shocker, and the o.O look and you've uncoded my sentence. Oh and don't forget a few snickers and the urge to want to fist bump Alex a few times.

Jennifer Armentrout you are killing me with this storyline! Of course I'm not complaining about that at all, because this story is just, WOW. Really. Like the first two books in this series, I again found myself a little torn between Aiden and Seth. I get Alex's love for Aiden and the feeling she has for Seth, but holy smokes after that ending I don't think I'm torn anymore, though a part of me thinks there's a lot more to come, and we might get another big shocker. Aiden will always be that Knight in Shinning Armor type character for me and Seth will always be that hotter than hades bad boy who has a very faint flicker of hope somewhere deep inside of him. Alex, well she'll always be Alex. The character who will always have me cheering her on.

This time around Alex felt a little bit more reserved to me, which I liked.  I felt like I understood her reserve, and the reasoning behind her actions. There's a lot more at stake, and I liked that she's matured a bit in the sense she has to think things over more, and consider her role in all that's about to happen. She's forced to think ahead a bit as she wants nothing more than to protect those she loves. Don't get me wrong, I still love that irrational side of Alex. You know the side that causes to still act out and make her point known to Seth or anyone else who tries to tell her what to do. That's one of the things that makes her a stand out protagonist to me.

This book is jammed packed with Jennifer Armentrout's signature. You know that perfectly written smoldering character chemistry, lots of snark, twists, and action she has become known for. This book has it all! I mean it wouldn't be a Jennifer Armentrout book is there wasn't any hot character chemistry (you know the type that just drives you as crazy as it drive the characters), bad boys, forbidden romance, danger, fight scenes, heartbreaking moments. I can't forget to mention those few fabulous moments that always leave me sighing and going "finally!". In all honesty this book had such a wide range of emotions that had me wishing I could read faster. I loved the shocking character twists, reveals, lies, cover ups, and all that happens in this book, and boy is there a lot of things that happen. I can't even begin to pinpoint to one thing I loved more than the other.... well I did love how the Gods appeared in this book. Hello Hades! With this ending, I can only imagine what's to come in Apollyn.

Can Apollyn please be released early!? Like in December? lol If you're a fan of this series I highly recommend picking this book up!

  3. Yea, you def take sides after this book because I was really on the fence b/t Seth & Aiden before (even though I would've chosen Aiden anyways, if given the chance, lol). Love your review. DYING for Apollyon! LOL
