Book Review/Blog Tour: Betrayed, The Guardian Legacy Bk #2

4.5 stars- I Really Enjoyed It

Lil has come to terms with her life as a Guardian/demon hunter and the wielder of the Nephilim most powerful weapon. She trains everyday to master her growing powers, gets along with her Guardian trainee friends (most of the time) and cherishes her moments with her human friends.

Just when she feels she belongs, her nature-bender father contacts her and warns her about a betrayal by someone close to her. Then Bran, the guy she loves, starts to act strange and one of her human friends acquires a supernatural ability. While Lil struggles find a connection between these three things, she begins to realize that someone is manipulating her and Bran, and will stop at nothing (including hurting those she loves) to lure them to the dark side.

Betrayed is a fast-paced, paranormal read with fabulous characters, an engaging Nephilim mythology, lots of action, and a great romance. I love it when the sequel is just as good as the first book, if not better. Ednah definitely knows how to grab a hold of my attention from the get go and in the end leaves me wanting so much more. This time there's more twists, suspense betrayal and the stakes are higher than ever for Lil and Bran.

The characters are even better in this sequel. Lil is still a strong heroine who's not afraid to kick some serious demon butt. She's loyal, snarky and tough, as she's not only learning to control her growing powers, but she has to figure out who's betrayal her, which is hard to do when you have so many great characters around you to support and help you. I felt like I connected more with Lil as she sorts out what's going on between her Bran, her father and her, and which of her friend's is betraying her. Bran and Lil's chemistry is great, if not a little stronger that it was in Awakened. There were times I totally wanted to kick Bran's butt, but in the end I completely understood why he was acting the way he was. I loved that Bran, Sykes, Remy, Izzy and Kim were back, along with some other favorites. Bran and Skyes back and forth bantering was great and provided the right amount of comical relief to the story. I really like Skyes's character. He's cocky and funny all at the same time, and knows how to push Bran's buttons by flittering with Lil, even if she doesn't flirt back.

I liked the way many of the characters were written and how they were developed as the engaging story line goes on. There's some great character surprises through out the story and just as I think I might have them figured out, Ednah throws in another twist. One of my favorites is the way Valafar, Lil's father and his #1 go to go guy, Dante where written. They're evil by nature, but yet I couldn't help but being intrigued by them. I liked them, but I also wanted to know more about their ulterior motives for their actions. I liked getting to see more of them in the storyline. The secrets and betrayal in the story were fabulous and I love it when an author can surprise me like that. The Guardian Legacy series has an intriguing mythology, an engaging mix of action, intense scenes, and romance. It's a series I really enjoy and one I'd definitely recommend to readers 13 yrs old & older.

Tomorrow Ednah will be stopping by to answer a few of our questions! Don't miss the rest of the blog tour which you can follow here.

Mundane Monday #97

"They were staring at Will." In some ways Magnus's smile was as unnerving as a vampire's, even though he didn't have fang. "Will looks wrong."

Tessa glanced over at Will, who was rummaging through the desk drawers with gloved hands. "I find that hard to credit coming from someone dressed as you are," Will said.

Magnus ignored this. "Will doesn't behave like the other human subjugates. He doesn't stare at his mistress with blind adoration, for instance."

"It's that monstrous hat of hers," said Will. "Puts me off."
