5 stars- I will be reading this one again!

The ultimate battle between sisters is nearing, and its outcome could have catastrophic consequences. As sixteen year-old Lia Milthorpe searches for a way to end the prophecy, her twin sister Alice hones the skills she'll need to defeat Lia. Alice will stop at nothing to reclaim her sister's role in the prophecy, and that's not the only thing she wants: There's also Lia's boyfriend James.

Lia and Alice always knew the Prophecy would turn those closest to them against them. But they didn't know what betrayal could lead them to do. In the end, only one sister will be left standing. (from goodreads)

I was completely hooked from page one with Guardian of The Gate. I read it in a short amount of time, as I had a hard time putting it down. Guardian of The Gate is Lia's journey to find the lost pages and to find away to defeat her sister Alice. Along the way she learns more about the power she holds, more about herself and where she comes from.

Guardian of the Gate gave me everything I like in a sequel, new characters, romance, the journey of self discovery, twits and turns and even betrayal. I like that as the story progresses, Lia becomes much more confident in herself and what her destiny is. Lia always has a choice. She can give up in her quest, she can fulfill the prophecy or she can claim what is now her right. That is saying something without giving it away, as I won't give away spoilers. I really felt drawn to Lia's character. She learns to trust herself in her journey, though it will be filled with both heartache and triumph.

In Lia's quest for answers and to find the lost pages, she journeys to Altus to seek her Aunt Abigail's help. In her dangerous and long travels she is surrounded by familiar characters and a new ones. My favorite being Dimitri, with whom Lia has an immediate connection with. With a betrayal from someone close to her and danger lurking from both the power Alice now has and the souls who want Lia, Dimitri becomes her closest confidant. I love their chemistry together! I would love to say more about him, but I think it would spoil some of story so I'll say, I'm team Dimitri!

Guardian of the Gate had the perfect blend of everything I wanted. I think Michelle Zink did a wonderful job with her sequel. She kept me captivated with the flow of her story and left me wishing it didn't have to end. I received answers I was looking for, and I am left with new questions that leave me wishing I had the next book in my hands. I highly recommend grabbing Guardian of The Gate when it releases this coming weekend.
